Red, Swift’s new Master Piece: Compilation of Break-up Songs

Image

SCORE: 85

Finally, the much-awaited album of Swifties has just released yesterday, October 22, 2012. but is it worth the wait?

Taylor’s new album drew a lot of speculation of stepping out of the style sooner or later she established a few years later and try something new to prolong her colorful life as a singer.

her fourth new album has the genre of country music with the touch of Pop-rock. it is obvious in its first track, State of Grace, the Arena rock song which has the U2 and the Cranberries influenced. Swift did put strong lines in chorus such as “This is the state of grace/this is the worth while fight/Love is a ruthless game/unless you play it good and right”.

while, Treacherous has the sexiest and smoothest melody in the album which is one of the highlights of RED.

Swift, has collaborated with various Folk-rock artists (this is after writing the song Safe and Sound with The Civil Wars) such as Ed Sheeran- “everything has Changed”, this song will receive a musical praise for Ed and Swift for they had made a great piece. next, is “The Last Time” with Gary Lightbody’s voice, another two points for the album.

Max Martin and Shelback also Co-wrote with three songs of the album, such as : “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” which made to the top of Billboard for weeks, and compared her to Avril Lavigne’s way of singing, “I Knew You Were Trouble” the dubstep song that Made to no. 3 in Billboard and the song “22”. points for the album.

Swift and Liz rose- the one who co-wrote the grammy winning and nominating pieces- You Belong with Me and White Horse, reunited with the song “All too Well.

she also wrote song with Dan Wilson with Treacherous.. and the rest of the songs were written by Taylor.

Over-all, though Swift is just steps away her original genre, we’re pretty sure that this album is another award-winning piece of taylor. though, It is most of heartbreak songs..

All she ever wanted was to help her friends, to remove their ill. She recommended faith healer. But, curse had started. Instead of life, it ended to death. This movie which directed by well-known Filipino horror director Chito S. Rono and screenplay written by  .

The story is about the woman who brought her father into the faith healer. When they were about to go home something happened a man from a far.

As the story went, her father saved from the effect of stroke. And when their neighbors got knew about this. They asked her to help them too, Seth felt that they needed her help that was why one day she came along with them to the faith healer. Jed also asked help to her for his half-sister, Cookie.

During that day, Manang Elsa-the faith healer, was incapable to heal but Seth asked her to do this. Manang Elsa forced herself to heal.

Then after that, the cursed began. All of them saw a crow, which indicated that the curse was about to start, within their nightmare. And from that one by one they died for every time they saw doppelganger.

Positive Points

First, I give credits to Chito Rono and his writers for being the Filipino culture as the center of the movie, Faith healing and the fact that many Filipino believed in in it.

The film gives modern thrilling tactics to scream viewers.

While the character development and portrayal contributed well to the film. Also, it never forgets to add some function and symbolism to the film. First, it the Crow which played as the warning of death, then at the end of the story, it was fallen from the sky which symbolizes that the curse is over. Next, is the color symbol wherein red indicates the curse is still on their way while yellow means they are about to get free.

The film seems has the big amount of money because it gives them effects to add to the story.

Critiquing Points

Although, the film used to modern shots to thrill viewers, it seemed that this was not enough to terrify them. I agree that the film has the good story development but the approach of suspense action seemed not enough to terrify audience.

Next, it is good that Chito Rono left a trademark with his horror film as movies Healing and Feng shui has the same approach of film, I think it’s time for Chito Rono to have his trademark new and blend with his new idea to make his future films more thrilling and terrifying.

Then, there was a face to face interaction of Bryan and the father of the Kim’s kidnapper and Bryan give him a chance to let things go and move on. But the father continued fighting until Bryan killed him.

Positive points

This film has the fact-paced story yet smooth flow of the story as all of sudden it brings you in the thrilling, action part, While the movements of each characters in the film is really so good as the movements camera help them to show the emotion and feel the thrilling part. The director used (as usually being used) right camera angles, shots and movements to show the exciting yet thrilling moment. Then, the movie used delayed expectation and gratified expectations to keep the viewer’s alive and their eyes on the screen. When you watch this movie you have really to abandon most of your belief for you may see some unbelievable scenes here.  The story ends with the conclusion that the father is the good protector, and they have different ways of loving their children. The story is really about the love of two fathers.

Critiquing Points

It seems that the movie has the typical way of story, already-seen, and nothing’s new. While the story did not give any surprise moment to make the audience challenge their mind of what would be going to happen. The thrilling moment you feel in the movie is due to the good shots taken but for the form of the movie as a whole it seems the same to the other action films we usually seen. And you cannot help to compare it with the first part of the movie- Taken 1. And I doubt if there will be third sequel but if they do, I hope think of another story concept that will leave legacy for this movie
